With the exception of a very few classes that are mandatory, participation in core curriculum classes is on an elective basis, and all students, from the first year to the fourth year, can freely select and attend these classes. From entrance through graduation, all students receive a comprehensive specialized education program that is shared throughout their department or course. At the same time, they receive a broad education in order to expand their field of vision beyond their own area of specialization.
The core curriculum gives students a broad vision, while also playing an extremely important role in fostering the intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and problem recognition and solving skills necessary for functioning properly in society. Students are encouraged to actively seek out and select subjects that will provide knowledge and abilities related to their own specialization, aid them as a member of society in their career after graduation, and supplement their own areas of weakness.
